Gillespie Stream, an hour up valley from Siberia hut, leads to Gillespie Pass giving access to the head of the Young valley. There is good camping just at bushline before the track starts climbing up a ridge towards the pass. Over the pass the Young valley gives straight forward tramping back to the Makaroa river. There is a hut at bushline and many camp spots in the valley.
